Privacy Policy
Last updated October 22, 2026
DealStoker (dealstoker.com) is a small, independent website. You can read everything on it without an account, and we never ask for your name, address, or payment details. This policy explains what we collect when you visit, which cookies we and Google use, and the choices you have.
What we collect
Page views. When a page loads, our own analytics records the page address, the page you came from (referrer), your browser's user-agent string, the time, a random visitor ID and session ID (see Cookies below), and a hashed version of your IP address, made with a secret key that only our server knows. We store that hash, not the IP address itself, and it cannot be turned back into your IP address without the key. We also use the hash to filter our own internal and test traffic out of the statistics. If you arrive through a link with campaign tags, we record its utm_source and utm_campaign values with your first page view of that visit.
Like / Dislike. When you press Like or Dislike on a product, we store which one you chose, a keyed hash of your random visitor ID (not the ID itself), the same kind of hashed IP address as above, and the time. This keeps it to one vote per browser and limits repeated votes from one network. Pressing the same button again removes your vote.
Clicks to Amazon. When you follow one of our links to Amazon.com, we record which product it was, the time, the referrer, your user-agent string, the session ID, the hashed IP address, and any campaign tags in the link (such as utm_source). We use this to count clicks and to filter out bots and repeated clicks.
Newsletter. If you sign up for our weekly newsletter, we store your email address, your language, where on the site you signed up, and when you confirmed. We use it only to send the newsletter and the confirmation email. Your subscription starts only after you click the link in the confirmation email. Every newsletter has a one-click unsubscribe link; after you unsubscribe we keep your address only to make sure we don't email you again. To limit repeated signup attempts, when a signup request is made we keep a hash of your IP address and the time of the request in the server's memory only; it is not written to our database. This information is deleted when the server restarts, and the rate-limit check uses request times from up to about the last hour. We send these emails through our email provider, Resend, which processes your address on our behalf.
Price alerts. If you ask for a price alert on a product page, we store your email address, the product, your target price, the price at the time, your language, and when you asked, confirmed, and were alerted or cancelled. We use it only to send the confirmation email and one email when the price reaches your target. The alert starts only after you click the link in the confirmation email. If the address is already a confirmed newsletter subscriber, we check that and start the alert right away, sending an email that says it is on instead of a confirmation link; your newsletter subscription is not changed. Every alert email has a link to cancel it. Signing up for the newsletter on the same form is a separate, optional choice; if you tick it we record that and when, and your subscription starts when you confirm the alert. After an alert is sent or cancelled we keep the record only so we don't email you again and to answer questions about it; email us to have it deleted. The same in-memory sign-up limit and the same email provider (Resend) as the newsletter apply.
Messages you send us. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write, and we use them only to reply.
Server logs. The companies that host the site may keep standard technical logs (such as IP address, requested URL, time, and browser) for security and troubleshooting.
We do not collect payment information. Purchases happen on Amazon.com, not on DealStoker.
How we use it
- To see which pages, guides, and products are useful, and to build lists such as "Top views".
- To keep statistics honest by filtering out bots and duplicate clicks.
- To keep the site secure and working.
- To measure how people find and use the site, and how well our own ads work (see Google below).
- To answer messages you send us.
- To send the newsletter, if you subscribed.
- To send price alerts you asked for.
We do not use this information to work out who you are, and we do not sell personal information for money.
Cookies
Cookies are small files your browser stores for a website. DealStoker sets these first-party cookies:
| Cookie | What it is for | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|
ds_vid | Random visitor ID for our page-view statistics, and to keep your Like or Dislike on a product to one vote | 1 year |
ds_sid | Random session ID for statistics and duplicate-click filtering | 30 minutes |
ds_locale | Remembers your language (English, Korean or Chinese) | 1 year |
Saved items. If you tap "♡ Save" on a product, the product and the price shown at that moment are stored in your own browser (local storage, ds_saved), together with the time of your last visit (ds_last_visit). We use them only to show your saved list and what changed since your last visit. To show current prices, your browser asks our server for those products by name; we don't keep that list or link it to you. Clearing your browser's site data removes it.
Google may also set cookies on our pages, as described in the next section. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site still works without them; it just forgets your language choice.
Google analytics and advertising services
Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand, in aggregate, how people find and use DealStoker: which pages they visit, how they arrived (for example from a search engine), roughly where they are, and what device and browser they use. We also send Google Analytics a few events of our own: when someone clicks through to Amazon, saves a product, shares a saved list, or signs up for the newsletter. On the newsletter sign-up form we record three events: the form being shown, the form being submitted, and a successful sign-up. Each carries only where on the site the form is (for example, the home page), your language, and the type of page. Those events never include your email address. It uses cookies such as _ga that last up to two years. We do not send Google Analytics your email address or anything else that identifies you by name. You can stop Google Analytics from measuring your visits with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Google Ads. We advertise DealStoker through Google Ads and load the Google Ads tag (gtag.js) on our pages. It uses cookies so Google can tell us whether people who clicked our ads went on to use the site (conversion measurement), and, where enabled in our Google Ads account, to show our ads to people who have visited before (remarketing).
Google AdSense. We may show ads served by Google AdSense on DealStoker. When we do:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google's My Ad Center. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info and through the Network Advertising Initiative.
If you opt out, you will still see ads; they just won't be based on your interests.
To learn how Google uses information from sites like ours, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services and Google's Privacy Policy.
Amazon
DealStoker is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. When you follow a link to Amazon.com, Amazon may use cookies to know that you came from us so it can pay us a referral fee; this never changes your price. Once you are on Amazon.com, Amazon's Privacy Notice applies to what you do there.
Your choices
- Cookies: block or delete cookies in your browser, or use a private window.
- Personalized ads: use My Ad Center, aboutads.info, or the NAI opt-out. Blocking third-party cookies in your browser also stops most ad personalization.
- Analytics: install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
- Newsletter: use the unsubscribe link in any newsletter, or email us and we'll remove you.
- Price alerts: use the cancel link in the confirmation or alert email, or email us.
- Questions or requests: email privacy@dealstoker.com. Our records are tied to random IDs rather than names, so we may not always be able to find data that belongs to you, but we will do what we reasonably can.
US state privacy rights
Depending on where you live (for example California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, or Texas), you may have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to access, correct, or delete it, and to opt out of its "sale" or "sharing" for targeted advertising.
We do not sell personal information for money. However, the Google advertising cookies described above may count as "sharing" or "targeted advertising" under some of these laws. You can opt out of that at any time using the controls in "Your choices". To make any other request, email privacy@dealstoker.com. We will not treat you differently for using these rights.
How long we keep information
We keep page-view and click records while they help us understand how the site is used over time, and delete them when they no longer serve that purpose. We keep emails only as long as we need them to deal with your message.
Security
We protect the site with HTTPS and keep our admin tools behind a login. No website can promise perfect security, but we work to keep what we hold safe.
Children
DealStoker is meant for adults shopping on Amazon.com. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you think a child has sent us personal information, email us and we will delete it.
Visitors outside the United States
DealStoker is built for shoppers in the United States. Our service providers may process information in the United States or other countries where they operate.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy, we update the date at the top of this page. If a change is significant, we will also point it out on the site.
